Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson is one his way to keeping that title for another couple of years. Republicans in the Georgia House of Representatives voted 75-25 for Richardson over his challenger, David Ralston of Blue Ridge during a caucus meeting at the State Capitol Monday morning. The full House of 180 members will officially elect a speaker in January and Richardson can go ahead and measure the drapes if he plans to change them. During the caucus there was also a surprise move to attempt to defeat Majority Leader Jerry Keen of St. Simons but the attempt failed.
