Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Commerce First United Methodist Church for J. Mac Barber, 91, a former State Representative and longtime member of the Public Service Commission. Barber was one of Georgia’s longest serving state officials, as a member of the Georgia House from 1949 to 1973. He ran for Insurance Commissioner (Comptroller General) and lost to fellow representative, Johnnie Caldwell. He would go on to be elected to the PSC five times.
