Waunelle Vickers Sims, 74, died Saturday in Douglas. She is wife of Neil Sims, coroner of Coffee County and owner of Sims Funeral Home. Their son is a member of the Georgia General Assembly, Rep. Chuck Sims, A daughter, Lou Holmes of Macon, was an all star high school and college basketball star. Mrs. Sims had been very ill for several months but died peacefully at home in Douglas. A graduate of Douglas High School in the class of 1952 that also included her husband, Neil, she was elected “Miss Brenau “in college, She and Neil had celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Funeral services were held Monday at the First Methodist Church in Douglas. Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson led a delegation of Rep. Sims’ legislative colleagues to the service. Burial followed in the Douglas City Cemetery.
