State Rep Tony Sellier Dies of Heart Failure

Rep. Tony Sellier, R-Fort Valley, died tuesday night of congestive heart failure at a Peach County Hospital, according to an announcement by the House Agriculture Committee. Sellier, 65, represented parts of Bibb, Crawford, Houston, Lamar, Monroe, Peach and Upson Counties of District 136. First elected in 2006, Sellier wa recentl reelected for a third term. He served on the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, Defense and Veterans Affairs, Edcation and Health and Human Services Committees. Born in Point-a-Pierre, Trinidad in the West Indies, he was raised in the oil camps of Venezuela where his father worked for Mobil Oil Company. A naturalized U.S. citizen, Sellier had a bachelor’s degree from the University of West Florida. He is survived by his wife, Judye and three grown children. Funeral arrangements have been announced. The family will be receiving guests from 11-2 and from 5-7 on Friday December 3 at the Municipal Complex, 401 Main Street in Byron. The funeral will be held on Saturday, December 4 at 3 p.m. at the St. Juliana Catholic Church, 804 MLK Jr. Drive Hwy 341 in Ft. Valley. Rooks Funeral Home, 213 W. Church Street in Ft. Valley is in charge of arrangements.
