Mayor Robert Reichert is facing former Mayor Jack Ellis in a runoff for Mayor of Macon to be held on August 16. In the first round Reichert needed only 2% more votes to avoid a runoff. In the State Senate race, to succeed Sen. Robert Brown (who ran third in the Mayor’s race) Rep. David Lucas faces former City Council President Miriam Paris in the August 16th runoff. Paris had 45% and Lucas had 39% in the first race.
