Jim Cole May Be Secretary of State

There are some reports that Gov. Sonny Perdue  has picked Rep. Jim Cole of Forsyth to be Georgia's next Secretary of State.   Cole will replace Karen Handel who resigned and will also seek a four year term next year.

Cole has served as Senior Administrative Floor Leader in the House.  Cole grew up in Augusta and attended Mercer University on a academic scholarship and played baseball.   After graduating with honors, Cole was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers where he played professional baseball until he sustained a career ending injury.  After selling a successful business, Cole has been serving as the Assistant Athletic Director for Mercer University.

Jim and Gaylynn reside in Forsyth and are parents of two children, Caroline and Lawson.  He is 38 years of age.
