Vacant Airport Bldg
A vacant airport building is costing the City of Atlanta thousands of dollars each month and the city's procurement department can't seem to put together an RFP in order to make it available to rental car companies who have expressed an interest. City purchasing officials give 'special circumstance' as the reason an RFP has not been issued. Mayor Shirley Franklin said three months ago she would 'expedite the procurement' but so far an estimated $100,000 has been missed by the city, and city procurement officer Toni Darden says, 'It is not yet ready to be advertised.' For now the city is content to just let the property sit there and grow weeds.
